These terms apply when you use the Steady Deen app. Please read them together with the Privacy Policy and Steady Deen Plus and subscriptions.
Agreement and who we are
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Atekian, based in Türkiye (“Atekian”, “we” or “us”), the publisher of Steady Deen. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
These terms are between you and Atekian only, not Apple. Atekian, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content. The terms that apply because you got the app from the App Store are listed under Terms about Apple.
What Steady Deen is
Steady Deen is a daily practice app for Muslims. It offers short, sourced readings, one small step you choose, a private journal, a qibla finder, a dhikr counter and guided programs. It works without an account, and your entries are stored on your device.
What it is not
- Steady Deen is not a prayer times or adhan app, and it does not replace religious guidance.
- It is not a source of fatwas or religious rulings. Short reflections help you think about a reading; for questions about your religious practice, please ask a qualified scholar you trust.
- It is not a health, medical or therapy service. If you are going through a hard time, please reach out to a professional or to local emergency services.
- Reminders are local notifications. Their delivery depends on iOS, your notification permission, Focus modes and other device settings, and we can’t guarantee it.
- The qibla direction is an aid. Its accuracy depends on your device’s compass, magnetic interference and your location or chosen city, and we don’t claim religious certainty for it.
Content
Sources and translations
Every reading shows its source. The Arabic text, the translation and the short reflection are labeled separately, and the translation is never shortened. In the app, Source details show the reference, the translation edition and its usage terms. Third-party texts and translations belong to their owners and are used under their licenses.
Readings are reviewed before they are published. Short reflections are editorial texts written for Steady Deen. They are not source texts, and they are not the only way to understand a reading.
Reporting errors
If you find an error, tap “Report a problem” on the reading or email support@steadydeen.com. We review reports, and if a correction is needed, we fix or remove the content in a later app update. We can’t change content that is already on your device remotely. See Report a content error.
Personal use and sharing
The app’s content is for your personal, non-commercial use. You can share a reading with the app’s share function; please keep its source with it. Don’t copy, sell or republish the app’s content, illustrations or reflections in bulk or for commercial purposes without our written permission, unless the license of a third-party text allows it.
Steady Deen Plus
- Steady Deen Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly and yearly. What is free and what Plus includes is described on Steady Deen Plus and subscriptions.
- The price and billing period are shown in the App Store and in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. If you cancel, Plus stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of the trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- If the price changes, Apple tells you in advance, as its rules require.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves. This does not affect any rights you have under the consumer law that applies to you.
- You can restore Plus with the same Apple Account in the app, under Settings › Steady Deen Plus › Restore purchases.
Your data
Your entries are stored encrypted on your device. There is no account and no cloud sync, so keeping a copy is up to you: you can export your entries, and your device backup may include them. We can’t recover entries that are lost, for example if your phone is lost or the app is deleted, and we can’t promise that a backup or export will work in every case. How we handle personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
License and intellectual property
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service. This license doesn’t transfer ownership of anything to you.
The app, its design, illustrations, editorial texts and the Steady Deen name belong to Atekian or its licensors. Third-party software, fonts and texts in the app are used under their own licenses.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- copy, modify, sell or distribute the app, except as the law or these terms allow
- reverse engineer or decompile the app, except where the law allows it
- get around purchase, security or other technical protections
- use the app in a way that breaks the law or harms others
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
We build Steady Deen with care, but to the extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don’t guarantee that it will be free of errors or always available, that reminders will arrive, or that the qibla direction will be exact.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the loss of data stored on your device. Our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid for Steady Deen Plus in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, and nothing in them affects your mandatory rights as a consumer.
Terms about Apple
Because you got Steady Deen from the App Store, the following also applies:
- Agreement. These terms are concluded between you and Atekian only, and not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). Atekian, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content. If these terms conflict with the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service, those Usage Rules prevail.
- Scope of license. Your license is limited as described under License and intellectual property.
- Maintenance and support. Atekian is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the app, as described in these terms or as required by law. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for the app.
- Warranty. Atekian is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by any failure to conform to a warranty are Atekian’s responsibility.
- Product claims. Atekian, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property claims. If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Atekian, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms. When you use the app, you must comply with the third-party agreements that apply to you, such as your mobile data plan.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept these terms, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
- Questions and claims. Questions, complaints or claims about the app go to Atekian, using the details under Contact.
Changes and ending these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the app changes or the law requires it. The date and version at the top show which version applies. If we make important changes, we will let you know in the app or on this page before they take effect. If you don’t agree with the new terms, you can stop using the app and cancel your subscription.
You can stop using Steady Deen at any time by deleting the app; your subscription has to be cancelled separately in your Apple Account settings. We may suspend or end your license if you seriously break these terms. If we stop offering the app or Steady Deen Plus, we will tell you in advance where we can. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as intellectual property, liability and governing law, continue after these terms end.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.
If you use Steady Deen as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there where that law allows. If you are a consumer in Türkiye, nothing in these terms limits your right to apply to consumer arbitration committees or consumer courts under Consumer Protection Law No. 6502.
If something goes wrong, we’d like to hear from you first. Most problems can be solved by writing to support@steadydeen.com.
