Getting started
What is Steady Deen, and who is it for?
Steady Deen is a calm daily practice for Muslims who want to make room for faith in everyday life. Each day brings a short, sourced reading, one small step you choose, and a journal that stays yours. It also includes a qibla finder and a dhikr counter.
Is Steady Deen free?
Yes. Daily readings, your routine, your journal, the qibla finder, the dhikr counter and the first guided program are free, and you can try the first step of every other program. Steady Deen Plus, a monthly or yearly subscription, opens the other three guided programs in full. About subscriptions
Do I need an account?
No. You never sign up, and the app doesn’t ask for your name or email address. Your entries are stored encrypted on your iPhone. If you buy Plus, it’s tied to your Apple Account, not to an account with us.
Which languages and devices does it support?
Steady Deen is in English and Turkish. It’s designed for iPhone and needs iOS 13 or later; the App Store page always shows the current requirement. An Android version is planned for later, with no date yet.
Is this a prayer-times app?
No. Steady Deen is not a prayer times or adhan app, and it does not replace religious guidance. Its optional daily reminder arrives at a time you choose, and its delivery depends on your phone’s settings, so please don’t rely on it as a prayer alert.
Content
Where does the content come from, and who reviews it?
Each reading is a verse from the Quran or a short reflection, and its source is always shown. The Arabic text comes from the Tanzil Project, the English translation is by Talal Itani (ClearQuran), and the Turkish translation is from QuranEnc (Rowad Translation Center). Every reading is reviewed before it’s published, and Source details in the app show the reference and usage terms.
Why are some explanations short?
You choose the length of the short reflection: Short or Standard, under Settings › Explanation length. Only the reflection changes; the translation is never shortened. You can switch anytime.
I found an error. How do I report it?
On the reading, tap “Report a problem”, choose what’s wrong, then tap “Open share sheet”, choose Mail and send it to support@steadydeen.com. The report includes the reading and version details and your optional note, never your personal entries. We review reports, and if a correction is needed, we fix the content in a later app update. More on reporting content
I’d rather not see a certain topic.
On a reading, tap “This topic isn’t right for me now”, and readings on that topic won’t be shown for now. To bring it back, go to Settings › Hidden topics and tap “Show again”.
Routine and journal
Why are there no streaks?
Because a missed day is not a failure. Steady Deen shows only the entries you added, with no streaks, scores or backlog. An empty day is just an empty day.
What does taking a break mean, and what happens to my entries?
Tap “Take a break” in My routine to pause your reminders, with no reason needed. You can set an end date or leave it open, and you can keep reading during the break. Your entries stay as they are, and you continue from where you left off when you’re ready.
Can I fix an entry for a past day?
Yes. In My routine, open “Previous days” under your focus to add, change or remove an entry for any of the last 7 days.
Who can see my notes?
Only you. Your notes are stored encrypted on your iPhone and the app doesn’t send them anywhere, so we can’t read them. They leave your phone only if you export them yourself, and sharing a reading never includes them.
Reminders
My reminder doesn’t arrive.
In your iPhone’s Settings, open Notifications › Steady Deen and check that notifications are allowed. A Focus mode such as Sleep or Do Not Disturb can silence it, and Low Power Mode can delay it. In Steady Deen, check under Settings › Reminder that the daily reminder is on and not paused.
How do I choose a private lock-screen text?
In Steady Deen, go to Settings › Reminder and find “Text shown on the lock screen”. Choose “Your moment is ready.” if you’d rather not show that it’s about a reading. You can change it anytime.
Qibla and tasbih
How accurate is the qibla direction?
The direction is calculated from your location or the center of a city you choose, then shown with your phone’s compass. Compass accuracy depends on your device and on magnetic cases, metal and electronics nearby, so hold your phone flat and away from them. Treat it as an aid and check it against another reference when you can; the app doesn’t claim religious certainty.
Can I use the qibla without location access?
Yes. Tap “Choose a city” and pick from the list, which works without internet and includes some cities in Türkiye and the United Kingdom. The direction is then approximate, from the city center. If you use your location instead, it’s used only on your device while the Qibla screen is open and is never stored.
Does the dhikr counter keep my count?
Yes. Your count, and the name and target if you add them, are saved on your iPhone, so you can continue where you left off. “Reset” sets the count back to 0 and keeps your name, target and options.
Purchases
How do I restore my purchase?
In Steady Deen, go to Settings › Steady Deen Plus and tap “Restore purchases”, using the same Apple Account you bought Plus with. Restoring brings back Plus only; your notes and records stay on the device where you wrote them.
How do I cancel, or get a refund?
Open your iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Steady Deen. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date; you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. More about subscriptions
I changed phones. Will Plus and my notes come back?
Plus, yes: restore it in Settings › Steady Deen Plus with the same Apple Account. Your notes are not synced to any cloud. If you set up your new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup of the old one, your entries may come with it, but we can’t guarantee this. To keep a copy, export your entries before you switch; an exported file can’t be imported back into the app.
Data and privacy
Where is my data?
Your notes, records, saved readings, program progress and preferences are in an encrypted database on your iPhone. There’s no account and no cloud sync, and we can’t access them. For Steady Deen Plus, Apple and RevenueCat process purchase information, never your notes. Privacy policy
How do I export or delete my data?
In Steady Deen, go to Settings › Data management. “Export” creates a text file of your entries that you can save or share, and “Delete all personal entries” clears them from the app. Deleting your entries doesn’t cancel a subscription. Export or delete your data
What happens if I delete the app?
Its entries are removed from your iPhone, and we can’t bring them back. Your subscription continues until you cancel it in your Apple Account settings, and an earlier device backup may still contain the app’s encrypted data. If you want to keep a copy of your entries, export them first.
